To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to recommend Regina Ames most highly as a candidate for your organization. I came to know Regina as my student at Hastings College of the Law and found her to be bright, articulate, and self-motivated.

Regina was a student in my Civil Procedure class for an entire year. She was consistently well-prepared and offered significant insights in virtually every class. In fact and uniquely so, Regina went beyond the class assignments, studied secondary sources, and demonstrated herself to be one of the most resourceful students I have had in over twenty-five years of teaching.

I would say without hesitation that Regina was one of the best students in last year's class-- or in any year for that matter. I suspect that her B grade in the course resulted more from the fact that she was perhaps over-prepared for the blindly-graded final examination, than her knowledge of the subject matter. Simply put, she is an excellent student, a tireless worker, and a fine person.

In addition to teaching law, I also teach Speech and Communication at Stanford University. I would say that Regina's finest quality is her ability to communicate her ideas and her willingness to explore challenging subjects. And she does all this with a level of civility and good cheer-- all the more uncommon these days. It does not surprise me that she has worked so effectively teaching young persons given her own ability to listen and communicate.

I recommend Regina Ames without reservation and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you about her. You would be pleased to choose her to work with your organization.

Very truly yours,
